5 Podcasts for Readers

Updated: Nov 20, 2020

I am an avid reader and I love listening to podcasts, so one of my favourite things to do is listen to podcasts about books and reading.

These are five of my favourite podcasts for readers.

What Should I Read Next? with Anne Bogel

Anne Bogel hosts the What Should I Read Next? podcast. She has a different guest every week, and her specialty is recommending books. Readers tell her their three favourite books and one book that wasn't for them, and then she recommends three books she thinks they'll like. This is a fantastic podcast for growing your TBR list, but beware—your list will grow very quickly.

Currently Reading Podcast with Meredith Monday Schwartz and Kaytee Cobb

On the Currently Reading Podcast, best bookish friends Meredith and Kaytee discuss what they're currently reading and talk all things bookish. They have some awesome segments in their show like Slow But Steady (where they tackle books at a slower rate and keep each other and listeners accountable) and Pressing Books Into Your Hands (where they insist readers read their favourite books). This show is entertaining and will also make your TBR list grow exponentially.

He Read She Read with Curtis and Chelsey

On He Read She Read, bookish couple Curtis and Chelsey discuss all kinds of bookish things like bookish dates, their favourite reads, book recommendations, etc. They also do a buddy read every month, which is like a super casual book club. This podcast is perfect for couples who read together and for any reader who enjoys bookish discussion and banter.

The Book Review by The New York Times

The Book Review podcast provides interviews with authors to talk about their books and writing processes. Each podcast also has a segment where New York Times book reviewers discuss what they're currently reading, and the podcast also keeps listeners up to date on the latest publishing news.

Reading Women with Kendra Winchester and Autumn Privett

In the Reading Women podcast, hosts Kendra and Autumn focus on feminist literature. They have a different topic each month, like Ramadan Reading (April 2019) and Indigenous Women (September 2019). Besides discussing books they interview authors on a regular basis, making this podcast a wonderful window into writing and publishing.

Do you listen to any bookish podcasts not listed here? I'd love to hear your recommendations! Comment on this post or send me an email!
